An earthquake of severity 7.9 on the Richter scale swept through Nepal on Saturday 25th April at 11:40am and its impact has been felt all over Nepal and as far as India, China, Bangladesh and Pakistan. This earthquake has been declared the worst earthquake in Nepal in the last 80 years, with 4.6 M people impacted and around 8000 people deceased with the death toll still on rise.

Most of ancient sites in Nepal listed by UNESCO as world heritage sites have been destroyed and huge rescue efforts are currently underway with assistance from international aid organizations.

Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), a global organization of non-resident Nepali has formed a committee comprising of all National Coordination Council(NCC) presidents, Executive and ICC members to coordinate and streamline all fund raising, contribution, logistics and volunteer activities globally to provide rescue efforts directly on the ground.

NRNA Australia in association with all the stake holders has formed a National Disaster Management Committee comprising of Nepalese Embassy, Consulate Office, Community organizations, business council, Media, NRNA (NCC & ICC) officials and others.

NRN Australia would therefore like to make a fervent appeal to everyone Australia wide to come forward to help in this rescue mission through fund raising, logistic and any volunteer support. Your generous support will help them find a way out of their desperate situation.
